What is the DRIVEN Charger Grant Stream?

The DRIVEN Charger Grant Stream is an Australian Government funding opportunity designed to support new public fast EV charging stations at automotive dealership and EV repairer sites.

The program is intended to help expand Australia’s public fast charging network by supporting charging infrastructure at locations connected to the automotive industry, including dealerships, EV repairers and eligible partner sites.

For dealerships and EV repairers, the opportunity is not just about installing chargers. It is about preparing the site properly, understanding electrical capacity, planning charger locations, considering customer access, and building infrastructure that can operate reliably over the long term.

Aether Installations helps eligible sites & commercial operators understand the infrastructure pathway before moving forward.

Program details should always be confirmed against the official business.gov.au DRIVEN Charger Grant Stream page before applying.

Why this matters for dealerships and EV repairers

EV adoption is changing what customers expect from automotive businesses. Dealerships, service centres and EV repairers are no longer just selling and servicing vehicles. They are becoming part of the charging ecosystem.

Public fast EV charging infrastructure can help automotive sites improve customer experience, support future EV servicing and sales, and position the business as EV-ready.

For suitable sites, charging infrastructure can support:

  • A better customer experience for EV owners

  • A more credible EV sales and service environment

  • Public charging access for customers and visitors

  • Future fleet, service and workshop opportunities

  • Long-term infrastructure value at the site

  • A stronger transition into EV sales, servicing and support

  • A more professional position in the public EV charging network

*The mistake is treating this as a charger purchase. It is an infrastructure project.

The site, power supply, civil pathway, bay layout, electrical capacity, customer access & documentation all need to be thought through before installation.

How Aether Installations can help

Public EV charging infrastructure is not just about placing chargers in a car park.

The site needs to be assessed properly around power capacity, charger placement, civil works, safety, access, load management, documentation and long-term reliability.

Aether Installations can support dealerships, EV repairers and commercial operators with:

  • Review the site layout, switchboard position, power availability, proposed charging locations and practical installation pathway.

  • Help map the charger locations, cable routes, customer access points, charging bay layout and future scalability.

  • Review the electrical considerations that may affect the project, including supply capacity, switchboard suitability, network upgrade considerations and load management requirements.

  • Coordinate the installation pathway with licensed electrical contractors and support clean project delivery from planning through to handover.

  • Support the site with the technical documentation, photos, project information and handover records needed for a professional infrastructure project.

  • Plan the project so the site can support future EV demand, staged rollout and long-term operational needs.

A compliance-first pathway for EV charging infrastructure

Step 1 - Site readiness review

We review your site, project goals, available space, existing electrical infrastructure and likely charging requirements.

Step 2 - Infrastructure pathway

We help identify charger locations, capacity considerations, cable routes, load requirements and practical delivery risks.

Step 3 - Delivery support

We support the installation pathway, contractor coordination, documentation, handover and compliance-first execution.

The goal is simple: understand the site properly before committing to an infrastructure pathway.

That reduces risk, improves project clarity and helps decision-makers move forward with better information.
