DRIVEN Charger Rebate Readiness for Dealerships and EV Repairers

Eligible automotive dealerships, service centres and EV repairers may be able to claim up to $3,000 per eligible EV charging plug, capped at $21,000 per eligible site.

Aether Installations helps automotive businesses prepare their site, install compliant smart EV charging infrastructure, and organise the documentation required for rebate applications.

The official program lists up to $3,000 per eligible fixed smart EV charging plug or portable DC EV charger, with a maximum rebate of $21,000 per eligible site.

Aether Installations is not affiliated with the DRIVEN Program.

Rebate eligibility and approval are determined by the Australian Government.

Funding rounds are assessed in order of receipt until available funding is exhausted. Preparing your site, charger selection and documentation early can help avoid delays once applications reopen.

What the DRIVEN Charger Rebate may cover

The DRIVEN Charger Rebate Stream provides funding towards the purchase and/or installation of eligible EV charging equipment for automotive dealerships and EV repairers.

  • Eligible fixed smart EV charging plugs may attract up to $3,000 per plug, subject to program rules and eligible expenditure.

  • Multiple eligible chargers may be supported at a site, with the rebate capped at $21,000 per eligible site.

  • Fixed chargers must meet smart charger requirements, including online capability to monitor, manage and adjust energy consumption.

  • Fixed smart EV chargers must be installed by a licensed electrician.

The program states fixed charging units must be smart chargers with online monitoring/management capability and must be installed by a licensed electrician.

Who may be eligible?

The rebate is intended for automotive businesses preparing for increased EV sales, servicing and repair capability.

You may be eligible if your business:

  • is incorporated in Australia

  • is a licensed motor dealer/trader

  • is a service centre associated with a licensed motor dealer/trader

The official eligibility criteria include ABN, Australian bank account, incorporation in Australia, and being a licensed motor dealer/trader, associated service centre, or eligible EV repair business compliant with AS 5732:2022.

This is not a residential EV charger rebate. It is for eligible automotive dealerships, service centres and EV repair businesses.

How Aether Installations helps

Aether helps automotive businesses prepare the infrastructure side of the rebate process - from site review and charger selection through to licensed installation and documentation.

  • We review your switchboard, available capacity, charger locations, parking layout and installation complexity.

  • We recommend suitable smart EV charging options based on how your dealership, workshop or service centre will use the chargers.

  • Installation is completed by licensed electricians in accordance with relevant Australian electrical standards and site requirements.

  • We test, commission and hand over the charging equipment so your team understands the setup.

  • We prepare the installation documents, invoice details and photo evidence needed to support your rebate application.

Why prepare before applications reopen?

When the next funding round opens, businesses that already understand their site requirements, charger needs and documentation process will be in a stronger position to move quickly.

Preparing early helps you:

  • confirm whether your business is likely eligible

  • understand how many chargers or plugs your site may need

  • identify switchboard or electrical capacity issues early

  • choose smart chargers that meet program requirements

  • avoid rushed installation decisions

  • prepare the documentation needed for a complete application

Applications are assessed in order of receipt until available funding is exhausted. Poor prep can cost time & time matters when funding is limited.

What you may need for the rebate application

The rebate application is handled through the official government portal. Aether can help prepare the installation-side documentation, but your business is responsible for confirming eligibility and submitting the application.

You may need:

  • ABN

  • business and site details

  • dealer/trader licence evidence, or EV repairer qualification/compliance evidence

  • proof the charger is installed at an eligible site

  • tax invoices

  • proof of payment

  • photos of installed chargers, brand/model and plugs

  • Certificate of Electrical Safety or relevant electrical compliance documentation

  • bank account details for rebate payment

The application process requires sufficient supporting evidence, and the official page warns not to submit until complete because mistakes may not be correctable.
